Curriculum
Where possible we will always try and offer what will help students. In Key Stage 3 this might be a bespoke piece of work identified by staff an at Key stage 4 this might be a qualification subject that we don't routinely offer, e.g Religion Philosophy and Ethics or childcare.
We will also use external providers if this is appropriate an viable.

The curriculum is designed to enable progress for all our students, irrespective of start point. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum with a focus strong focus on preparing students for the future - life after Tor. In addition to the academic, the curriculum also focusses on social and emotional development. We use the Boxall Profile as well as our own set of Tor Traits.
We want Tor students to be recognised for: being of good character, resilient, honest, respectful, cooperative, confident and responsible. We believe that these academic, social, emotional, vocational and enriching skills and opportunities help our students to develop and have a journey post Tor that meets their needs and aspirations. |
The curriculum is delivered by skilled staff using a trauma informed ways of working.
This is underpinned by our relational approach whereby we meet the learner where they are and support them to realise their potential. We use PACE, we smile, we work to build confidence in our pupil and create safety in learning. We do this by establishing safe routines, with consistent staff behaviours and a warm nurturing environment, Staff are flexible enough to meet the needs of our pupils within the wider planning so that students are able to feel success and progress. |
All students leave Tor with a pathway onto their next provision or step of their journey having progressed from start point as well as having what they need to be successful in the next step of their life. In KS3 this will be a robust integration into a setting, KS4 this could be a pathway to post 16 with academic qualifications that enable them to access this alongside the enriching social and emotional development that has grown them and rounded individuals. |
